We pride ourselves in creating exceptional hair as well as selecting the best stylists to use our brand. For those reasons, we opted to make our textured hair available to all accounts — many other brands require a training fee or limit purchase due to strict installation and aftercare requirements.
To prevent dryness & early loosening of the wave, it's imperative that you review aftercare thoroughly with your clients, even those who have worn straight wefts before. This is also a great way to ensure your clients purchase the right products from you and that they are able to style their hair correctly.
For the perfect texture and volume match, textured hair should always be washed before installation.
Textured hair should never be permed or relaxed. Avoid smoothing treatments (keratin treatments, Brazilian Blowout, Hair Botox, etc.).
Cutting more than a couple of inches of length from a textured weft will cause the natural weight and structure of the curl pattern to change, which can unpredictably disrupt the wave.
Before any k-tip install, client's hair must be clarified. Use our Prep shampoo or similar product designed to remove oils, conditioners, or other products that can cause slipping if left in the hair. Do not install directly after the removal of any other k-tips or tape-ins that required the use of a remover solution — remover solution must be completely cleansed prior to the installation of new k-tips.
Styling
We recommend air-drying textured wefts or clients can use a diffuser with a moisture-based curl defining cream/serum to further enhance the wefts and achieve a more textured result. Keep settings at low/medium heat with a low fan speed and do not over dry — it's better to dry only 80 percent and let the rest air dry on its own.
Blowdry styling, especially with a round brush, or to achieve a smooth finished look will cause the hair to straighten over time. This will also happen with excess use of a curling iron or flat iron. Comb with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
Aftercare
Curls crave moisture. Take extra care to use products to hydrate and keep your textured hair frizz-free.
With textured hair, it's even more important to use only shampoos, conditioners, and regular deep conditioning treatments designed for curls to provide moisture. Never use protein products or bond builders and always avoid silicone.
Use a moisture-based curl defining cream/serum at least 2x per day or more as needed to hydrate your wefts.
Beach wave & Curly will always maintain some texture over time. The longevity of the wave/curl pattern is directly related to home care. Most clients should expect the texture to loosen over 3–6 months of wear with exceptional care.
Clients who swim, even occasionally, should expect reduced longevity of their wefts.
